Pre-Operative Depression and Anxiety in Patients Undergoing Open-Heart Surgery

ABSTRACT
 Introduction: Cardiac disease and mental health are two related disorders often co-exist together. As one of the interventions to manage patients with cardiac diseases, heart surgical procedure also correlated depression anxiety which will interfere prognosis. This study aimed know incidence in before undergoing open-heart surgery at Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital (RSHS) Bandung.
 Methods: was a case series using primary data from secondary medical records. Subjects were adult who undergo RSHS Bandung. Data collection started November December 2019. Variables assessed anxiety. Demographic profiles (age, gender, occupation, education, marital status), as well (underlying disease, comorbidity, type procedure), obtained.
 Results: Seven subjects during period. One subject excluded for returning an incomplete questionnaire. Subjects’ age ranged 28–58 years 1:1 male female ratio. dominated by those mitral valve replacement(4 6). No had this study.
 Discussion: In study, no found among subjects. The possible explanation result dominant underlying valvular known have lower psychological compared coronary artery disease.
